WHEN LIFE MAKES YOU SLOW DOWN

WHEN LIFE MAKES YOU SLOW DOWN

I got influenza, down and out for almost 2 weeks.

And if I am being honest, it felt wildly inconvenient.

It was the middle of Girl Scout cookie season. Our entire troop's cookies were stacked in my garage. Cases everywhere. Orders to sort. Families waiting on pickups.

Not exactly ideal timing for a fever and forced bed rest.

But as I lay there, too tired to push, too achy to override it, I realized something.

Sometimes when the Universe slows you down, it is not a disruption. It is a recalibration.

I do not get sick often. And I also do not slow down easily. So when my body fully shut me down, I knew there was something deeper available if I was willing to listen.

The first thing I noticed was how uncomfortable stillness can be when you are used to producing.

When you can't answer emails. Cannot create. Can't organize the cookies in your garage.

You are left with yourself.

And that is not always as easy as it sounds.

The second thing I always ask when I get sick is this: what am I ready to release?

Because illness, for me, has often been a purge.

Sometimes it is a thought pattern that no longer fits who I am becoming. Sometimes it is a subtle resentment I did not realize I was carrying. Sometimes it is simply too much on my calendar that used to feel aligned, but does not anymore.

The body has a way of clearing what the soul has finished holding.

And then there was the lesson I did not see coming.

Support is a spiritual practice.

There I was, staring at stacks of Thin Mints and Lemonades in my garage, knowing families were counting on me to get distribution right.

The old version of me would have pushed through. Powered up. Told myself I could rest later.

Instead, I asked for help.

People stepped in. Things got rearranged. The world did not fall apart.

There is something deeply humbling about receiving when you are usually the one holding everything together.

Giving is powerful. But receiving is what keeps the energy balanced.

And it made me think about how many high-capacity women I work with are carrying more than they need to.

They are intuitive. They know something is off. They can feel that subtle friction between who they are and how they are currently operating.

But they keep pushing.

One of my clients described it this way:

"Before I started with Kara, I felt like a bull in a china shop; frazzled and mentally unclear. You helped me learn calming practices and techniques to help me focus. I also feel a stronger connection to my inner voice. I appreciate that you take the pressure away from me needing to come in with what we are going to talk about; you have a gift of just knowing where to take the conversation that opens up convo and taps into things I needed to address."

That is the work.

It is not about adding more to your plate.

It is about clearing what is clouding you so you can hear yourself again.

In April, I am opening a few 1:1 coaching spots.

This is the only way to access my mediumship channel directly. I weave channeled messages into every session alongside grounded strategy and energetic recalibration. You do not have to show up with a perfectly organized agenda. We uncover what needs to be seen together.

If you are in a season where you need support, not because you are failing but because you are evolving, this may be your moment to receive instead of push.

Sometimes the lesson is not the fever.

It is realizing you did not have to wait for one to slow down.

Love, Kara
